The second earliest possible Easter of the year, and of course, in Chicago, that means cold, snow, rain, fog, you name it. When I was little, my mom took me to Marshall Field's every year to buy an Easter dress and hat, usually with an elastic band that would go under my chin (ouch), probably until I was 7 or 8. Easter hats and dresses always seem a little out of place in Chicago. I've thought about buying some pastel skirt to wear with my collar shirt this year, but somehow, I just can't picture it.
But I suppose that's what Easter is all about. Wearing your pastels when the sleet is coming down. With boots and long underwear, of course. A little glimpse of the kingdom of God.
